Our Union
Founded in 1865, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers is the oldest continuous operating Union in North America. For over 100 years, Local #1 of Alberta has been part of building not only a province, but a society we can be proud of. Today our Local in Alberta represents approximately 650 highly trained craftsmen. Our goal is to continue to improve our member's quality of life through fair wages, good benefits, decent pension and to excel in being the safest, most productive and highest quality workforce in the industry. Bricklayers of Local #1 are proud sponsors of Alberta's apprenticeship program and are pleased to participate in the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training scholarship program in the knowledge that we are encouraging interest in our craft.
